Unicoi Camping
Our 5th annual camping-in-the-rain trip was over Memorial Day weekend at Unicoi State Park near Helen, Georgia. For the first few years of this tradition we were disappointed by lack of rain, but it has been reliable since 2008. Here are a couple of videos.
First, tubing the Chattahoochee River in Helen, Georgia. Music by Peter Gabriel.
And then a too-long-unless-your-kids-are-in-it summary of the rest of the trip, with music by Good Old War, Supertramp, a one-man band in Helen, and a bluegrass band at Unicoi.
For historical purposes, you can see videos from 2008 and 2009, too.
Singing in the basement
My wife tells me I need to work on smiling while I sing. It does look like I alternate between anger and boredom. But anyway, here are a few covers I've done recently.
David Wilcox: Saturday They'll All Be Back Again
Bob Dylan: Don't Think Twice, It's Alright
Jakob Dylan: Everybody's Hurting
Spring
Here are a couple of spring clips I meant to post earlier. The first is some baby birds in a bush in front of our house. Sadly, the nest didn't survive a windstorm a few days later.
And here's our 2-year-old making the best of a rainstorm:
On stage with Good Old War
Here's our performance!
And the rehearsal:
What an experience! It was worth the 28 hours of driving, the dented bumper, and even the vomit smell in my clothes from my son getting sick 20 minutes before the performance.
Update - here's another video someone else posted with a closer view of stage. You can tell the audience started singing before I was ready and I had to catch up!
And here are a few additional Good Old War tunes if you're interested.
Coney Island
UPDATE: We won! Going to Philadelphia to sing on stage with the band.
A favorite band Good Old War is having a contest - best cover gets to perform on stage with them. Deadline is 1pm today, so I got the girls out of bed last night to sing this:

Sea World videos
A few clips of Sea World, Orlando - January 2010. This is a playlist with several video clips -- you can skip using the left and right arrows.
Granola Bar, Inc.
The granola bar shop with too many flavors. Written and performed by the kids.
Discovery Cove - snorkeling
Our family was at Sea World and Discovery Cove this week in Orlando. It was chilly in the 50s - some of the roller coasters were actually down in the morning until the sun heated things up a bit. Our day in Discovery Cove was fortunately the warmest of the week. The water in the lazy river is heated to 85 degrees, so we didn't notice the cold until it was time to get out (or run to the snack shop or bathroom).
Here are some clips of us snorkeling. Video and photos were taken with my oldish Canon Powershot A510 in a DiCAPac waterproof case my wife got me for Christmas. Stayed bone dry! In a couple of shots you can see the lens cover making a black edge, but other than that it worked great.
Snake charming
A few clips of us with cobras in Jaipur and New Delhi, India. Dumb tourists. The cobra around my neck cost me 200 rupees for "very good picture. No bite, no bite."
